Learn about Tandem Skydiving

Tandem Skydiving

The easiest and safest way to do your first skydive. No experience is necessary, an you need only attend a short class before your jump (usually about 25 minutes long). When doing a tandem skydive, you will be jumping with one of our professional instructors, attached to the parachute system your instructor is wearing. Unlike most skydiving centers, Plymouth Sky Sports trains you to pull the parachute yourself (of course the instructor will do it if you do not), and help fly and land the parachute (which is also optional).

Tandem Skydiving

The safest and most popular way to experience skydiving. No experience is necessary, attend a 25 minute class and jump with one of our professional skydiving instructors. Plymouth Sky Sports is one of the few places in the country where students get to deploy their own parachute and help fly and land it on the very first jump. Your first skydive will likely be the most amazing thing you will ever do. Make sure you get it on video to preserve and re-live the intense rush.

Learn to Skydive

Many people are so moved by the tandem experience, the logical next step is to transition into our Solo Training Program (STP) and learn to skydive. We offer the best skydiving education available anywhere. Each jump is more fun than the last, and you will learn all the skills necessary to skydive alone or in groups. We will take you all the way to your USPA skydiving license and beyond. Once you have your license, you can skydive almost anywhere in the world.

Group Skydiving

Once you get your license, you will want to start jumping with your new friends! We help organize and promote group jumps, and always have coaches and instructors on hand to help you get the most out of your skydiving license. Plymouth Sky Sports also has continuing education classes for experienced jumpers, advanced skill training, and friendly competitions to test your new skills and earn free jumps.

Demo Jumps

Plymouth Sky Sports offers demonstration jumps at public venues. With multiple PRO-rated demonstration jumpers on our team, we can handle any venue and provide a show-stopping performance. We often jump with flags and/or smoke, and also carry items into events for our customers (i.e. carrying in a game ball). We are one of the few companies in the country that does tandem demonstration jumps.

What is a Tandem Skydive?

Tandem Skydiving is the most popular and efficient way to experience skydiving. At Plymouth Sky Sports we treat every tandem student like they will continue to skydive. What does this mean for you? We will train you on the basics of freefall in our pre-jump class (which lasts about 25 minutes).

After the class, you will meet your instructor...the professional skydiver you will jump with. Your instructor will spend another 15 minutes with you before you board the aircraft. During that time, your instructor will review the information from class, and discuss any special needs you may have. Your instructor will reinforce the classroom training while fitting you to the harness you will wear on the jump. Your instructor will also provide you everything you need for the jump (i.e. jumpsuit, altimeter, goggles, etc...).

Once everything is ready, you and your instructor will head to the aircraft for the climb to exit altitude (two miles or more above the earth). During the climb, your instructor will review the jump with you, and "hook up" (attach your harness to the parachute system the instructor wears).

Once at altitude, you will exit the aircraft with your instructor, freefalling for a mile or more (up to one minute) until you deploy the parachute. On the 4-5 minute parachute ride back to the landing area, you will receive further instruction on how to test the parachute (to see if it is safe to land), find the airport, steer to the desired course, and assist in landing the parachute safely on target!

After landing, your instructor will remove the harness and associated equipment, provide a complete debrief (which includes issuing you a logbook and certificate), and answer any questions you may have. If you purchased the video and/or pictures, you will be able to take them home with you shortly after your debrief.

Very few skydiving centers allow tandem students to deploy the parachute and assist in the flight and landing of the parachute. Plymouth Sky Sports is the only skydiving center in Indiana that trains you how (and when) to deploy the parachute and how to fly it. You get to deploy the parachute and help fly and land it!
